The field of Slovak language and literature focuses on research into the regularities of structure, development and functioning of the Slovak language, research into the history and theory of Slovak literature, its literary critical reception and the interpretation of literary texts. It also deals with the ties of the Slovak language with the Slovak socio-cultural environment, its relationship to other languages and cultures, and the inter-literary relationship of Slovak literature.
