The field of Slavic languages and literatures focuses on the linguistic and literary reflection of the languages and literatures of the Slavic area with an overlap to broader philological, cultural and historical contexts. In addition to living Slavic languages, it also studies their archaic forms and dialects, their mutual comparison, contacts with other language areas and groups, and the inter-literary relationship of Slavic literatures.
