VEGA 1/0146/23: Study of drugs based on glycosaminoglycans, sulfated heteropolysaccharides and live bacterial strains with antiproliferative and immunomodulatory properties in vitro and in vivo (01/23 - 12/26), principal investigator of the project.
The aim of the project is to monitor the phagocytic activity of macrophages by increasing the production of GcMAF protein in the body by using drugs prepared on the basis of glycosaminoglycans, sulfated heteropolysaccharides and live bacterial strains. In the research we will study the antiproliferative, antitumor and immunomodulatory effects of these substances. The essence of the immunomodulatory effect of substances based on glycosaminoglycans-low molecular weight chondroitin sulphate and fucoidan-sulphated heteropolysaccharide containing fucose and galactosamine is the in vivo increase of GcMAF protein production by inhibition of nagalase activity. Initially, we will start testing substances on 2D and 3D cell cultures. Following targeted subcutaneous administration of tumor cells to laboratory mice, we will monitor the effect of the oral drug on progression as well as inhibition of xenografts formed. We anticipate that experimental studies will bring medically significant markers to GcMAF immunotherapy.
KEGA 008UK-4/2019: Integration of interactive electronic textbooks and e-learning processes in the teaching of immunology and virology (01/19 – 12/21), principal investigator of the project.
The output of the submitted project will be interactive electronic textbooks from virology in English and a manual of methods and procedures from immunology and molecular biology of viruses, as well as teaching texts of basic virological methods in printed form. Interactive electronic textbooks will be introduced in the processes of teaching immunology and virology in integration with e-learning systems.
VEGA 1/0061/18: The analysis of bioactive substances associated with Murine herpesvirus with antiproliferative andimmunomodulatory properties in vitro and in vivo (01/18 – 12/21), principal investigator of the project.
The project represents an original study devoted to the biological and immunological characterization of bioactive compounds associated with the virus MHV-68, which is referred to as MHGF-68 In spite of intensive studies of MHV-68, no attention has been hitherto paid to substances resembling growth factors associated with this virus. We characterize the selected fraction of MHGF-68 with antiproliferative effects in vitro on different cell lines and in vivo in a model of athymic mice. The obtained results suggest the possible application of MHGF-68 in the treatment or prevention of cancer associoated with herpesvirus.
