2019-2022: Horizon 2020 ARCH – Advancing Resilience of Historic Areas against Climate-related and other Hazards, vedúca riešiteľka projektového partnera / lead of project partner
ARCH is a European-funded research project that aims to better preserve areas of cultural heritage from hazards and risks. The ARCH team with the cities of Bratislava, Camerino, Hamburg and Valencia will co-create tools that will help cities save cultural heritage from the effects of climate change. ARCH team develop a disaster risk management framework for assessing and improving the resilience of historic areas to climate change and natural hazards. Tools and methodologies will be designed for local authorities and practitioners, the urban population, and national and international expert communities. The project will present various models, methods, tools and datasets to support decision-making.ARCH‘s expert interdisciplinary team includes four European municipalities; Bratislava, Camerino, Hamburg, and Valencia; research scientists, city network ICLEI and standardisation organisation DIN.
Outputs of ARCH project are: Hazard and Object Information Management System; Resilience Options and Pathway; Impact and Risk Assessment; Resilience Assessment Framework and Platform

2015-2018: Horizon 2020 RESIN – CLIMATE RESILIENT CITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURES, vedúca riešiteľka projektového partnera / lead of project partner
RESIN = interdisciplinary, practice-based research project investigating climate resilience in European cities. Through co-creation and knowledge brokerage between cities and researchers, the project is working on developing practical and applicable tools to support cities in designing and implementing climate adaptation strategies for their local contexts. The project aims to compare and evaluate the methods that can be used to plan for climate adaptation in order to move towards formal standardisation of adaptation strategies.
The RESIN project was investigating climate change adaptation practices in European cities and assessing impact and vulnerability in order to develop standardised methodologies and decision support tools that cities can use to develop local adaptation strategies. The project was building on previous research by combining existing approaches to climate change adaptation and disaster risk management to develop an innovative, holistic approach that takes into account all of the core elements of the urban system and the ways in which they are interrelated. The project is working also with European standardisation organisations with a view to contributing to the formal standardisation of adaptation tools and approaches. The project’s research partners are developing an urban typology that will characterise European cities according to a number of features (such as morphology, size, economic and infrastructural texture, etc.) in order to facilitate knowledge sharing and comparisons between them. The objectives are made possible through the collaboration between researchers and cities (Paris, Manchester, Bilbao, Bratislava) which was a central element of the project’s operations.

2018-2021: INTERREG – Danube Transnational Programme - CONNECTGREENRestoring and managing ecological corridors in mountains as the green infrastructure in the Danube basin, riešiteľ / member of team
The project bring ecological connectivity closer to the people in the Carpathians region. Spatial planning can support nature conservation and secure critical points where landscape fragmentation threatens ecological connectivity.
ConnectGREEN project aims to contribute to maintaining and improving ecological connectivity between natural habitats, especially between Natura 2000 sites and other protected areas of transnational relevance in the Carpathian ecoregion, namely in Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Serbia. Partners from
various fields of activity joined forces to increase the capacity for the identification and management of ecological corridors and to minimize conflicts between infrastructure development and wildlife conservation.
ConnectGREEN will foster cooperation among nature onservationists, natural asset managers, spatial planners and decision makers at the local, national and regional level.

2021-2023: Grant Európskeho hospodárskeho priestoru a Finančného mechanizmu Nórskeho kráľovstva: ACC01/P03 Climate resilient Bratislava – pilot projects for decarbonisation, energy effectiveness of buildings and sustainable rainwater management in urban space, vedúca riešiteľka projektového partnera / lead of project partner
The main objective of the capital city project is to increase its resilience to the expected risks of climate change impacts and to support the transition to a carbon-neutral city in the near future by gradually reducing greenhouse gas emissions in certain sectors and minimizing its carbon footprint. The project consortium consists from 5 partners: Bratislava - the capital of the Slovak Republic, the Bratislava Metropolitan Institute, Comenius University University in Bratislava - Faculty of Natural Sciences, the city of Reykjavík - Icelandic partner and the city of Bergen - Norwegian partner.
The project activities are: 1. Development of an action plan; 2. Comprehensive renovation of the building and its surroundings - energy measures; 3. Comprehensive renovation of the building and its surroundings - green and blue measures; 4. Implementation of measures to increase the infiltration capacity for rainwater in the vicinity of the transport line; 5. Supporting communities, partnerships and public participation, raising environmental awareness.

2019-2022:VEGA - Ecosystem approaches to assessing of anthropogenic changed territories according to selected indicating groups
of species, vedúca riešiteľka / project leader
The aim of the project is via the ecosystem approach to identify the autochthonous microbiota representatives in selected blackfields and brownfields using biochemical and molecular methods (next-generation sequencing), to determine their physiologic properties and to create a geodatabase of these autochthonous microbiota representatives with particular attributes. The most frequent sources of negative anthropogenic influences of the environment in Slovakia include old mining and processing areas and contaminated and qualitatively disadvantaged areas such as anthropogenic salty soils. These kind of soils and types of land cover are the focus of research.
