2016-2020, investigator of the project APVV 15-0083 „Complex model of base and precious metal mineralisation at the Rozália mine in Hodruša - Hámre“. Principal investihator of the project is Doc., Mgr. Peter Koděra Phd. The project deals with the only ore deposit actively mined in Slovakia that is exceptional by richness of ore and its structural position on subhorizontal veins in center of the Štiavnica stratovolcano caldera. Epithermal Pb-Zn-Au-Ag vein deposit at Rozália mine was studied in detail just in its western part, while for its eastern part which is being intensively mined already since 2008, there are missing basic data about structural position, mineralogy and alteration. Genesis of the deposit is neither sufficiently solved. The absence of this information causes problems in exploration for further occurrences of this type of mineralisation in the district and in processing of ore. The creation of a complex model of mineralisation, including 3D modelling of mining works, geology and distribution of useful metals at the deposit in GIS, will significantly contribute to formulation of genetic model and resource assessment and it will result in more effective exploration and mining activities at the deposit. Genetic model of this exceptional deposit will contribute to general understanding of genesis of epithermal systems.
2020-2023, investigator of the project VEGA 1/0313/20 „Genesis of precious metal epithermal and porphyry mineralisations in the stratovolcanoes Štiavnica and Javorie“. Principal investigator of the project is Doc., Mgr. Peter Koděra, Phd.
The project deals with the conditions of origin and genesis of two most important types of precious metal mineralisation in Slovakia that have a real economic importance. Completion of their current level of knowledge in terms of genesis can significantly help in exploration and mining of these ores. The epithermal vein Au-Ag deposit Banská Hodruša at the Rozália mine is the only mined ore deposit in Slovakia. The completion of genesis of precious metal epithermal mineralisation in the broad vicinity of this mine is necessary for its future effective exploration. Porphyry gold mineralisation, including the Biely Vrch deposit, is an unusual type of deposit, where gold was introduced by salt melts. Completion of its genetic model has a potential to significantly improve the knowledge of these rare magmatic-hydrothermal systems even in a global aspect, because due to their rare appearance the knowledge is still just on a low level.
2015-2018, investigator of the project VEGA 1/0560/15 „Mineralogy and genesis of economically important types of gold mineralization in the Central Slovakia Volcanic Field“ Principal investigator of the project is Doc., Mgr. Peter Koděra, Phd.
This project deals with characterisation of two most important types of precious metal mineralisation in Slovakia that have a real economic importance. Completion of their current level of knowledge in terms of mineralogy and genesis can significantly help in exploration and mining of these ores. Epithermal vein Au-Ag deposit Rozália mine was studied in detail in its western part, while for its eastern part that is intensively mined since 2008, mineralogical data are missing and its genesis is not satisfactorily clear. The absence of this information causes problems with processing of ores and prospecting for this type of ore in this district. Porphyry gold mineralisation is a new type of Au ore in Western Carpathians that proved to be a very specific type of deposit even in world comparison. The study of this mineralisation has a potential to significantly improve the knowledge of these rare magmatic-hydrothermal systems, which can help to make their exploration more effective also elsewhere in the world.
2013 - 2017 - investigator of the project APVV-0339-12 - Perlite genesis and innovative approaches to its exploitation and processing (https://www.apvv.sk/buxus/docs/zk/zk-apvv-0339-12.pdf) . Principal investigator of the project is Doc., Mgr. Peter Uhlík, Phd.The project clarified the genesis of two Slovak perlite deposits, the model of spatial distribution of perlite quality influenced the transfer of mining at the Lehôtka pod Brehmi deposit, pointed out the relationship between porosity and expansion of perlite. The project was solved in cooperation with PRIF UK, FBERG TUKE, UVZ SAV, UACH SAV and the mining company LBK PERLIT s.r.o. The output has so far been 6 scientific articles.
2021 - 2025 - investigator of the project APVV-20-0175 „Bentonite is an important industrial raw material". Principal investigator of the projec is Doc. Peter Uhlík, PhD. Due to the high amount of clay minerals from the smectite group, bentonite has unique properties, e.g. high swelling capacity, plasticity, high specific surface area, cation exchange capacity and low hydraulic conductivity. Due to these properties bentonites have broad range of possible applications. Consequently, worldwide bentonite production is constantly increasing. Slovak republic (SR) is one of the world's leading bentonite producers and bentonites belong to the strategic raw materials in SR. In the last 10-15 years, several new bentonite deposits have been opened in SR, most of which have never been studied in detail. Which is one of the causes that the potential of Slovak bentonites is not fully utilized. One of the objectives of the project is therefore the comprehensive characterization of bentonites from new deposits. The mineral and chemical composition of bentonites, their physico-chemical, mechanical, and rheological properties will be determined. The obtained results will help to better understand the geology and genesis of bentonite deposits which may lead to the discovery of other economic accumulations of bentonites. The main contribution of the project lies in the rational, economical, and efficient use of domestic raw materials which will lead to the long-term sustainability of bentonite exploitation in SR. The way in which the proposed changes will be implemented is highly innovative. The main application outputs of the project such as: passports for the optimal utilization of different qualitative types of bentonites, including economic analysis, 3D model of bentonite quality and geological model of selected bentonite deposit, will contribute to achieve this ambitious goal. The multidisciplinary team of experts on domestic and world bentonites in cooperation with major bentonite producer in SR, REGOS, s.r.o. is guarantee of successful solution of the proposed project.
