VEGA 2/0006/21 (2021 - 2024) Transregional relations of sources of sacred and secular music from the territory of Slovakia in the 12th - 17th centuries - member of the research team (Institute of Musicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences)
Annotation:
The project focuses on the processing of the oldest music books in Slovakia and of Slovak provenance abroad, which form an integral part of cultural, artistic and educational identity in Europe. The aim of the project is to determine the local elements and trans-regional relationships of specific materials of sacred and secular music from the 12th - 17th centuries from the territory of Slovakia and Slovak provenance abroad. The object of the basic research will be complete and fragmentary surviving musical manuscripts and prints, which will be evaluated on the basis of the migration of cultural, religious and artistic stimuli influencing particular religious centres, institutions, cities and individuals (kings, nobles, church dignitaries, townspeople). The transfer of impulses, inspirations and models reflected in the various components of musical culture (musical genres, repertoire, musical content, liturgy, notation, decoration of manuscripts, etc.) will be traced. The project will result in a comprehensive, analytical and comparative treatment of musical sources.
VEGA 1/0699/16 (2016-2019) Tabulature monuments of the 16th and 17th centuries from the territory of Slovakia - member of the research team (Department of Musicology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Bratislava)
Annotation:
The aim of the project is to increase the level of knowledge about organ and lute tablature monuments that have been preserved in manuscript and printed form from the 16th and 17th centuries from the territory of Slovakia. By deepening the research on their voluminous musical repertoire containing both sacred and secular, vocal and vocal-instrumental music, the contexts with contemporary European musical-cultural development and also their importance for the domestic musical life will become more visible. By populating a domestic on-line database of Renaissance and Baroque polyphonic music at the Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Music in Bratislava, we will contribute to the improvement of the quality of domestic research and at the same time we will be in line with the global trend in the field of processing music-historical sources. The members of the project are experienced experts, with a track record of international significance in their chosen topic. They represent three university departments (Charles University in Bratislava, Charles University in Nitra, Charles University in Žilina) and supervise the work of PhD students within the project. Outputs: scientific studies, monographs, source-critical note editions, etc.
VEGA 1/0599/12 (2012 - 2015) Multi-vocal music in the territory of present-day Slovakia and the ways of its dissemination in the 16th and 17th centuries - member of the research team (Department of Musicology, Faculty of Music, Charles University, Bratislava)
Annotation:
The main aim of the project is to make visible the musical past of Slovakia during the 16th and 17th centuries and to integrate it into European musical contexts and contexts. The basic starting point of the research will be the preserved primary music-historical sources from the 16th and 17th centuries deposited in domestic state and church institutions, as well as outside our territory (in Hungary, Romania, Germany). We want to create the concept of an electronic database of the music of the many voices cultivated on the territory of Slovakia, to start filling it with data and thus to contribute to the improvement of the quality of domestic music-historical research. The members of the project are experienced music historians, who have achieved results of international significance in the chosen thematic area. They represent three university departments (Charles University in Bratislava, Charles University in Nitra, Charles University in Žilina) and they also supervise the work of 2 PhD students within the project. We plan to publish the results in the form of studies, monographs, source-critical note editions and present them at international scientific events.
