The article presents original qualitative empirical findings on mental health needs and barriers to accessing psychosocial support among forcibly displaced Ukrainians in Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. A key contribution lies in the application of a systems innovation perspective linking individual experiences with structural and cultural characteristics of host-country service systems. The findings have strong academic and societal relevance and are applicable to social work practice, public mental health, and evidence-informed policy development.

The study examines the needs of local service providers for scaling up mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions for Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Slovakia, and Romania. Based on qualitative research, it identifies key systemic, organisational, and professional barriers to implementation, including capacity constraints, shortages of specialised staff, language and cultural limitations, and service fragmentation. The article provides an analytical framework and recommendations for the sustainable integration of scalable, evidence-based psychosocial interventions into national health and social care systems, with a strong applied relevance for social work practice and policy development.
