Project KEGA č. 016UK-4/2021 Standardized patient in Midwifery - responsibile solver

Summary: A standardized patient is a method using a individuals who are specially trained to portray the roles of patients. Midwives meet in their routine practise, a number of different clinical tasks in practice, but also with various emotions of women in the prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period, and adequate communication with a woman in these periods also plays an important role in their future profession. An effort of undergraduate education, is to best prepare students for practice, and to eliminate the student's potential unprofessional approach to the patient. Due to the increasingly difficulties contact of the student with the patient, it is important to implement this innovative form of teaching into undergraduate educaion of midwives in our conditions, including among the emotional aspect and the possibility of practicing communication with the patient with direct feedback too.

The aim of the presented project is the creation and implementation of standardized patients, as well as the creation of multimedia records using this method in order to support interactive and effective education, and at the same time support distance education in this study program.

Project KEGA č. 025UK-4/2018 Multimedia support of teaching in midwifery (virtual patient) - co-researcher, assistant of project leader

Summary: A virtual patient is a specific type of computer program that simulates clinical scenarios of real practice. The student or the problem solver plays the role of a health professional who solves the case independently. The advantage is that the programs are interactive and it is possible to include hyperlinks that link hypertexts of different media as well as other multimedia components. Virtual patients are becoming a support of multimedia education. In midwifery, the multimedia support gives reason for developing team communication, independent clinical decision making, transformation of theoretical knowledge into practice, and socializes students into the role of midwife. The aim of the proposed project is to create a set of virtual patients with multimedia interconnection in midwifery to support interactive education, to solve problems with feedback and repeating.

3

Project VEGA 1/0211/19 Psychosocial factors associated with the postpartum depression and screening methods for depression in the postpartum period.

Summary: Postpartum depression is a serious health problem, which according to current data, affects almost a fifth of women after birth and its incidence tends to rise. Postpartum depression have significant negative impact on the overall quality of life of a woman, process of the adaptation to motherhood, and it can also negatively affect the formation of the safe mother-child attachment. There is still insufficient attention paid to the prevention, screening and adequate treatment of postpartum depression in Slovakia. The main aim of the research project is to examine the relationship between psychosocial factors (partner support, perceived stress, birth satisfaction) and depressive symptomatology among postpartum women. Another aim of the project is to explore the association between postpartum depression and the quality of maternal-child attachment. The research project also plans to validate the Slovak version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and to examine its psychometric properties.

4

National project "Creation of new and innovative standard clinical procedures and their introduction into medical practice ITMS project code NFP312041J193, preparation and elaboration of a specific standard diagnostic and therapeutic procedure in the field of midwife"

Summary: The reasons for the low efficiency of the Slovak healthcare system also include the missing or insufficient uniform standards for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The creation and implementation of uniform clinical procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of the most serious and common diseases, which would reflect the latest medical knowledge and ensure effective interconnection of clinical treatment procedures in all forms of IB provision, will increase the quality and effectiveness of treatment and ensure access to the same quality medical care throughout Slovakia. Develop standard clinical procedures and integrate them into the national healthcare system.

5

Project KEGA č. 025UK-4/2014 Virtual patient in midwifery

Summary: The aim of the project was to create a special virtual patients for the study program midwifery. The project includes six original virtual patients in the Slovak language, which are freely available and usable in various educational institutions, in midwifery over Slovakia but also abroad, especially in the Czech Republic. The term virtual patient means an interactive computer simulation of real clinical case for the purpose of medical education, training assessment and decision making. Virtual patients in midwifery are minimal elaborated. On the Slovak academic field is a major innovative didactic approach - creating own virtual patients in general, in midwifery special. The aim of the project is through the establishment of teaching computer simulations to increase the attractiveness and effectiveness of the educational process in the study program of midwifery.
