This research, which the authors have made available to a wide professional and lay audience, is the first comprehensive sociological survey work to examine the mechanisms and decision-making practices of translators and interpreters. This work has had a significant response among professionals as well as translators and interpreters, dispelling a number of entrenched myths and providing some previously unarticulated information about developments in the Slovak translation and interpreting market.

For the first time, the prestigious publishing house Routledge has dedicated a complete collective monograph to the didactics of interpreting in Central Europe. The compiler has prepared a profile monograph that presents the work of the most prominent theorists of the didactics of interpreting in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Austria and Slovenia. The book includes chapters by renowned experts in the field of interpreting: F. Pöchhacker (Austria), I. Čenková (Czech Republic), N. Pokorn (Slovenia) and A. Biernacka (Poland). P. Šveda is the author and co-author of three chapters.

Babel, the oldest translatological peer-reviewed journal, has published the authors' findings, which present a new perspective on the internal stratification of translation specialisations and propose vertical divisions according to the degree of professionalism, in addition to the horizontal division into individual specialisations.

The article in the translatology journal FORUM (SCOPUS) reflects findings pointing to the employability of translation and interpreting graduates on the labour market and correlates the studied language combination with motivation to continue working in the field. This is the first research to use a relatively large sample of Slovak students to look for relationships between market impulses and students' motivation to develop a career in translation and interpreting.

VEGA: 1/0202/21 Reflection of cognitive and personality characteristics in interpreting performance of PaT students and professionals in real and virtual environments. Responsible investigator of the partner institution.

A project aimed at measuring specific cognitive characteristics that aims to improve the teaching and training of interpreters in HE settings by identifying these variables among professional interpreters.
