Structural models of personality and attitude predictors of drivers' risky behavior.

GA, VEGA, 1/0545/14, 2014-2016; project manager

The results of the project contributed to the knowledge of the relationship between personality, attitude, self-assessed risky behavior and objective risky criteria (traffic accidents and offenses). The research findings did not confirm the direct influence of personality variables (distal factors) on road accidents. We are inclined to the opinion that personality traits tend to influence individual interpretations and evaluations of environmental factors, including the behavior of the other traffic participants resp. they act as regulators of proximal variables. The results of modeling attitude variables showed a significant relationship between affective attitudes to risks in traffic (e.g. speeding) and risky behavior. The findings suggest relevant preventive safety interventions on affective, emotional level of attitudes.

Attachment models and psychological contract in the context of organizational behavior and attitudes.

GA VEGA, 1/0952/14, 2014 - 2016; project manager deputy

The results of the project contributed to a systematic knowledge of current concepts used in work psychology (commitment to the organization, commitment to the working group, commitment to the profession, organizational civic behavior, psychological contract, leader-subordinate relationship) and their relationship to dispositional dimensions represented by attachment models in adulthood as well as demographic and situational variables. The attachment avoidance dimension was the most significant predictor of the lack of affective commitment to the organization, the team as well as to voluntary citizeship behavior (OCB) in the workplace. The anxiety dimension predicted a normative commitment to the organization. Relationships with a leader as well as the perceived importance of a relational psychological contract have been confirmed as significant predictors of the intention to remain in the workplace compared to personality attachment dimensions.

3

Reconceptualized model of commitment in a work context: individual and organizational contexts.

GA VEGA, 1/0273/18, 2018-2020; project manager deputy

The contribution of the project results lies in the identification of individual and organizational factors that contribute to the creation of relevant cognitive and affective states and subsequently to the creation of commitment to selected types of objects in the work context (organization, superior, team, work). Significant relationships between personality factors and commitment, between commitment and tendency to behavior (intention to leave the organization, organizational citizenship behavior) as well as moderation and mediation models pointing to the relationships between predictors, commitments and behavioral tendencies were identified. The validity and reliability of the tool for measuring commitment to specific work and organizational objects (KUT; Klein et al. 2014) was confirmed by testing associations between one-dimensional concept of commitment and other, object-congruent psychological states and attitudes (commitment in the concept of three-component TCM model, personality factors, organizational factors).

4

Dark sides of information technology use: effects of technological stress on well-being and productivity at work

GA VEGA 1/0603/21; 2021 - 2023; project manager deputy

The massive use of information technology (IT) is becoming imperative at work, across professions and types of organizations. The aim of the project is to analyze the dark sides of IT use and verify models of the effects of IT stressors and personal resources as mitigating mechanisms on "positive work well-being" - work attitudes (engagement, commitment) and behavior (productivity, performance), as also on experiencing stress (burnout), the intention to leave the organization. The theoretical basis of the project reflects the heuristic model of job demands and resources (JDR; Bakker & Demerouti, 2007) and the theory of coping (Lazarus, Folkman,1984). Two methodological approaches are planned: qualitative (semi-structured interview) and quantitative one. Research results can be beneficial for the field of theory (technostress in frame of JDR model), research (verification of new tools measuring technostress), managerial practice (identification of ways to mitigate the effects of technostress on employees well-being).
