Reconceptualized model of commitment in a work context: individual and organizational contexts.

GA VEGA, 1/0273/18, 2018-2020; project manager deputy

The contribution of the project results lies in the identification of individual and organizational factors that contribute to the creation of relevant cognitive and affective states and subsequently to the creation of commitment to selected types of objects in the work context (organization, superior, team, work). Significant relationships between personality factors and commitment, between commitment and tendency to behavior (intention to leave the organization, organizational citizenship behavior) as well as moderation and mediation models pointing to the relationships between predictors, commitments and behavioral tendencies were identified. The validity and reliability of the tool for measuring commitment to specific work and organizational objects (KUT; Klein et al. 2014) was confirmed by testing associations between one-dimensional concept of commitment and other, object-congruent psychological states and attitudes (commitment in the concept of three-component TCM model, personality factors, organizational factors).

Dark sides of information technology use: effects of technological stress on well-being and productivity at work

GA VEGA 1/0603/21; 2021 - 2023; project manager deputy

The massive use of information technology (IT) is becoming imperative at work, across professions and types of organizations. The aim of the project is to analyze the dark sides of IT use and verify models of the effects of IT stressors and personal resources as mitigating mechanisms on "positive work well-being" - work attitudes (engagement, commitment) and behavior (productivity, performance), as also on experiencing stress (burnout), the intention to leave the organization. The theoretical basis of the project reflects the heuristic model of job demands and resources (JDR; Bakker & Demerouti, 2007) and the theory of coping (Lazarus, Folkman,1984). Two methodological approaches are planned: qualitative (semi-structured interview) and quantitative one. Research results can be beneficial for the field of theory (technostress in frame of JDR model), research (verification of new tools measuring technostress), managerial practice (identification of ways to mitigate the effects of technostress on employees well-being).

3

Individual and organizational strategies of digital detox and their effects on employees' experience and behavior.

GA VEGA 1/0566/24; 2024 - 2026; project manager deputy

As a result of the increase in digitalization of the professional world, knowledge workers whose work is associated with the creation, and dissemination or users of knowledge, are daily confronted with information and communication technologies (ICT). ICT, on the one hand, allows them greater flexibility and autonomy, on the other hand, they are associated with technological overload and its negative consequences on work performance, well-being, physical and mental health (Stewart, 2020; Pirkkalainen & Salo, 2016). The main aim of the project is the identification of effective individual and organizational digital detox strategies as strategies of conscious disconnection from ICT in order to reduce/eliminate their negative consequences. The secondary goal is the analysis of the effects of digital detox on the behavior (performance) and well-being (stress, burnout, well-being) of knowledge workers. The project goals will be achieved through the so-called "mixed design".

BURNOUT PREVENT: Enhancing Skills, Developing Innovative Service Solutions and Policy Recommendations for Burnout Prevention, in CE Smart Specialization Sectors

Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE CE0200521; 2024-2026; WORK PACKAGE LEADER (WP3)

BURNOUT PREVENT project will improve entrepreneurial skills, to tackle rising anxiety, burnout syndrome and depression among workforce of the SMEs. It will be the first project in the whole EU comprehensively considering all 3 burnout syndrome aspects: corporate environment, free time and digital stress.

Depression and anxiety are now the most prevalent psychological and emotional troubles faced in the workplace, representing more than 20% of all sick-leaves. This results in the negative impact on the productivity and innovativeness, estimated to 202 billion € loss for the Central Europe alone. Smart specialisation sectors are the most vulnerable, due to demanding competitive global environment.

Proposed project will strengthen entrepreneurial skills and set up organizational model for burnout syndrome resilience in the SMEs from 3 smart specialisation fields: Industry 4.0, Smart Health and Sustainable Food. It will provide managers and employees new knowledge and skills for implementing burnout preventive measures in the work and outside work environment.

Partnership is composed of 12 partners from 7 CE countries: Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Croatia,Germany and Slovakia. They are coming from 3 different groups: (i) knowledge partners, (ii) business support institutions and (iii) policy-expert partners. Roles and knowledge are complementary: PP2 and PP3 are expert knowledge providers specialized in occupational health and work psychology, both needed for theoretical development of outputs. Partners from 4 to 10 are business support partners who will be responsible for testing of outputs in 3 smart specialisation fields across 7countries. Partners 11 and 12 are national public health institutes, responsible for development of occupational health policies. Lead partner has strong experiences in management of Interreg projects, as well as it brings relevant knowledge from previous Interreg CE projects, funded under SO1.2. Main beneficiaries of the project are (i) SMEs from 3 Smart specialisation sectors - improving capacities for organisational burnout prevention redesign, (ii) employees - receiving knowledge how to tackle stress and anxiety after work and (iii) policy stakeholders - receiving knowledge for better alignment of occupational health policies with modern era work.
