APVV-22-0275 Inclusive stylistics (2023 - 2027). Goal: The research project is aimed at processing an empirically grounded theory of inclusive stylistics, understood as a component of the theory of interactional stylistics, which, by means of a set of corresponding concepts, depicts the stylistic aspect of linguistic interaction in terms of the question of which stylistic behaviours and actions of interactants are consistent with inclusive communication. The researchers directly build on the results of their own research within the project Social Inclusion through the Cultivation of Language Use and the monograph Interactional Stylistics and focus on the following activities: specification of the concepts of inclusive communication and inclusive comprehensibility in terms of interactional stylistics, clarification of the stylistic potential of mediatization with respect to inclusive comprehensibility, description and explanation of anti-inclusive factors with consideration of the stylistic aspect, elaboration of the concept of inclusive stylistic competence. The research is directed towards systematizing the concepts for developing a theory of inclusive stylistics and drawing conclusions for possible applications of this theory in formal and informal educational practice, with an explanation of the importance of interactional stylistics for the communicative cultivation of members of a society that follows the ideology of social inclusion. The project is a response to the societal demand in the field of cultivation of social relations, guided by the idea of an inclusive society and implemented by the promotion of this ideology in social life. Inclusive stylistics is understood as one of the tools to promote the "inclusive movement" in our society. Investigator

APVV -18-0176 Social Inclusion Through the Cultivation of Language Use (2019-2023). Goal: The project directly ties up to the document of the Government Office of the Slovak Republic “Through knowledge towards prosperity - Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation of the Slovak Republic” from 2013, which was based on international documents concerning social development. The project is conceived in such a way that it innovatively assists the realization of this strategy. Its goal is to conduct an empirically based and theoretically justified model of communication cultivation for society, which enforces the strategy of social inclusion, integration, and reinforcement of cohesion. Model is to be created on the basis of Slovak sociocultural and language reality, but it is expected to be applicable in different sociocultural environments. The vision of the model was born from the belief that communication cultivation of society is an essential tool of social inclusion and the creation of inclusive society. The main backing point of constructing the model is an idea, that the foundation of communication culture is optimally transparent language by which individuals adapt to the variability of social life. The degree of transparency of this language depends on the development of communication actors’ interpretational competence, which means that enforcing the development of this competence is the fundamental condition for cultivating society. The model is supposed to be a knowledge base and a guide in the creation of education programs, methodologies, and teaching materials focused on enforcing social inclusivity of language practice but also a source for information and impulses for education elite in the process of enforcing optimization of an inclusive society and lastly a contribution to scientific discourse about the cultivation of language practice as a form of social inclusion.  Investigator

VEGA 1/0111/20 Communication Culture in a Gradually Democratized Society (2020 - 2023) The goal of the research is to describe and explain the state of communication cultures and their changes in correlation with the gradation of democracy and liberality in our society as well as stagnation in these cultures. It aims to evaluate them from the perspective of sociocultural evolution and deduce findings for optimization of expectations for minimizing unwanted implications. The research is concerned with typical signs of purposefully chosen communication cultures and their trends, which are created due to the escalating democratization of public language communication, and with sedimented manners of language communication in confrontation with the needs of society in this process. It is following trends in communication cultures, which are currently maintained in Slovak sociocultural environment, focusing on adaptation of communication activities and forms to changing conditions, which are marked by growing participation of citizens in public sphere, reduction of their distance from power but also intensifying rivalry for mass appeal, that exists between political, economical, medial and other social subjects. VEGA 1/0338/16 The Slovak Language in the Communicational Formations (2016 - 2019). Goal: The goal structure is motivated by research interest in the part of the current language situation in the Slovak lingvo-cultural environment, which is concerned with communicational formations. The proposed term communicational formation indicates the dominant component of this structure and expresses the research's leading idea. The primary goal of the research lies in displaying the contemporary Slovak language through the prism of real-life communicational formations, the language operating in them, and the influence, which the communicational formations have on the character of the language. Anticipated descriptive picture represents the current usage of standard Slovak language in its flexible stability: it involves its usage in formations of different stability and dynamics (the concept of standard Slovak language is to be more precisely defined). Based on the optimal complex picture, users are navigating in social interaction with regard to constitution, stabilization, and variability of formations. This explains the realization of the accommodative potential of language in concurrence with the assimilative disposition of communicators. With the support of knowledge of democratizing evolution tendency of Slovak standard-written language and its growing differentiation as well as description and explanation of communicational formations, this language formation is presented as optimally natural language with all implicates. Investigator

Project of the Excellent Linguistic Team of Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava. "LANGUAGE AND LiINGUISTICS IN CONNEXIONS". In a general way, the research is oriented on interpretative aspects of language and both synchronic and diachronic linguistics. It is a reaction to current research challenges, which are results of the logical evolution of contemporary linguistic knowledge and results of needs in social practice, which are tied to the humanization of individual and social life. The methodological basis of interpretations consists of approaches from semiotics, sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics, and discourse analysis, which projects the “untameable expansiveness” of linguistics and its entering to domains of social and human sciences. The content of research includes a reflection of theoretical and methodological questions of interpretation of language and language interpretation of the world, outcomes from empirical researches that are concerned with interpretative aspects of language structures, processes, and activities as well as intracultural and intercultural communication and the applicative potential of linguistic knowledge about interpretation.

Central themes: language interpretation of natural, social a psychological world; interpretation of otherness; interpretation in language communication; current interpretations of present and past language phenomenons, processes and activities; interpretation problems in intercultural communication. Research activities correlate with the current priorities of RIS 3, especially concerned with the use of language in social interaction from an interdisciplinary point of view. The basis of the research strategy is defined by the term social culture, which is transposed from social anthropology, but specified for the research goals of investigators. The main terms of the research approach are lingvo-social standards as interaction forms, which create a natural culture of societies while this culture has a formative impact on its members.
