The Geography of Philosophy: An Interdisciplinary Cross-Cultural Exploration of Universality and Diversity in Fundamental Philosophical Concepts, Templeton Foundation, University of Pirttsburgh, 2019-2021, Team Eastern Europe (Slovakia, Poland, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia), Team Leader , https://www.geographyofphilosophy.com/about (1) The Geography of Philosophy: An Interdisciplinary Cross-Cultural Exploration of Universality and Diversity in Fundamental Philosophical Concepts. Templeton Foundation, 2018-2022, $ 133,401, Head of Research Team for Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.
This large international project (budget US $ 5.5 million, the above budget is only an amount for the Slovak team) focuses on an empirical examination of basic philosophical concepts (knowledge, leadership, wisdom, etc.) in specific social contexts on a global scale. The result of the research should be a fundamental record concerning long-standing disputes as to whether the basic philosophical concepts are universal or rather culturally and socially conditioned. The outputs of the project will certainly influence this discussion on a global scale.
Public trust, resilience and perceived threat COVID-19, APVV PP-COVID-20-0074,2020-2021, Principal Investigator. The project examined the level of public confidence of Slovak citizens, as well as their perception of the threat of coronavirus, and compares these data with the international context. It further examined the ways and strategies of resilience in view of the perceived threat of COVID-19. For this purpose, innovative research tools were used, developed for the needs of the project and validated in the Slovak and international context. At the same time, concrete practical measures have been proposed to increase public confidence in security measures in the relevant social groups and regions, and successful resilience strategies have been identified. All these data were compared with international data in the Central European and global context. The latest statistical methods (multilevel modeling, alignment optimization) were used for the analysis, which will be combined with qualitative data from structured interviews. The project will result in reliable and valid data on citizens' public confidence in security measures in relation to the perceived threat of COVID-19 and on successful resilience strategies in specific social contexts.
Interventions to alleviate prejudice against stigmatized minorities. Development of measuring tools and experimental testing of contact hypothesis in field conditions, APVV-14-0531, 2015-2019, € 249,000, member of the research team
This project focused on the development of measurement tools that should alleviate prejudices against stigmatized minorities, especially young people. The responsible researcher provided advanced statistical analyzes and expertise, including the elaboration of the monograph Robust Statistical Methods in the Social Sciences (2016). The results were presented on a national and international scale.
