STICS (Smart Transformation and Innovation Consortium Slovakia), Next Generation EU. Project researcher.
The STICS consortium accelerates innovation transformation through its own development, testing and implementation of solutions and cooperation across sectors. We remove barriers between demand and supply, build the foundations of a functional innovation market and do it transparently – through co-creation and co-design with the involvement of all relevant actors. Most innovations are tied up in local governments; therefore, STICS is turning the data jungle into a clear highway of innovation and opening it up to anyone who wants to improve life in municipalities and cities and strengthen the competitiveness of Slovakia.

Be Ready, INTERREG Danube Region. Project researcher, responsible for the Virtual Pilot Educational Program of the project focused on Urban Heat Islands and Climate Change Mitigation in the Danube Region.
BeReady project brings together 19 partners from 12 countries - universities, cities, and communities from across the Danube Region to prepare for the impacts of climate change. Its main goal is to help people, especially local practitioners, understand how cities can become more resilient to heat, extreme weather, and other environmental challenges, in particular Urban Heat Islands (UHI). Through real-life pilot projects implemented in 12 countries, BeReady explores practical ways to reduce urban heat stress, improve urban spaces, and involve citizens in creating sustainable solutions. This training course is part of that effort. It gives the knowledge and tools to understand UHI, apply acupuncture interventions, and contribute to building healthier, more sustainable and participatorily built cities. BeReady E-learning platform contains 3 thematic courses developed as the result of the implementation of the BeReady INTERREG Danube Region project co-funded by the European Union. By joining this course everyone become part of a growing community working toward climate-ready and future-proof urban environments across the Danube Region.

Early Stage Grant STU: Project - Urban Innovations on the Path to Sustainable Smart Cities (M(i)ESTA /city cities/). The main project leader.
Deciding how cities of the 21st century will develop is not easy at all. On the one hand, local governments do not always know how to deal with planning conceptually and systematically. On the other hand, the diversity of cities and municipalities, conditions and frameworks of their development does not allow the application of general models and schemes of transformation processes. Urban planning should reflect this, but in many cases it has nothing to rely on conceptually or theoretically, in many cases also due to inadequate reflection of social practice in the position of theoretical concepts. It is in this area that I, as a young researcher, see a gap between theory and practice. We perceive a challenge and a growing opportunity to implement technology as a tool to improve the efficiency of territorial development, thanks to which municipalities can create better functional zones in digital form and thus lead their development in a sustainable way. The most important for such development are 5 parameters: economy, society, environment, culture, technology. All these parameters must cooperate and help create smart and sustainable cities – cities of the future. Urban planning should be able to grasp mutual relationships and use technological progress, including digitalization, for effective and efficient responses to current challenges, knowing that smart approaches do not always mean only the use of high-tech solutions, but reasonable solutions, including those close to nature. The aim of the project's focus on conceptually grasping the integration of the processes of digital and green transformation of cities is to streamline, optimize and accelerate planning processes. We consider spatial planners to be key integrators of an interdisciplinary approach to the management of life and development of the urban organism. In the context of the complexity of the socio-ecosystems of cities and the amount of information needed to create substantive and territorially based development strategies, it seems necessary to use systems with generative artificial intelligence in planning processes and thus bring parametric solutions to the decision-making process, while simulation of solutions makes it possible to see planned changes in the context before implementation and to indicate shortcomings in time that can be prevented in this way. Creating and testing scenarios of further development, as well as various development alternatives based on the analyzed impacts, limits and potentials of solutions, is a prerequisite for understanding the consequences of decisions through simulations in real time. Is the declared ambition to create in this context the Digital Twin of Slovakia the future of spatial planning - a realistic virtual image of the country: vision and ambitions of the new legislation in Slovakia from April 2024? Does this urban innovation bring cost and operational productivity, better crisis management, open data-based decision-making, better participatory governance and urban planning? It is necessary to change the mindset and implement a system that will bring about integrative, inclusive, participatory and dynamically built sustainable cities, using technological innovation and data as a tool to improve the quality of life of its residents, attractiveness for visitors and at the same time, but not least, increasing productivity and improving the city's economy.
Horizon2020 Making City, Energy efficient pathway for the city transformation: enabling a positive future. Project researcher.
Coordinated by the CARTIF Foundation, MAKING-CITY is a 60-month Horizon 2020 project launched in December 2018. It aims to address and demonstrate the transformation of urban energy systems towards smart and low-carbon cities based on the Positive Energy District (PED) concept. Cities today play a key role in the fight against climate change by significantly reducing their carbon emissions. The PED operating models developed under MAKING-CITY will help European and other cities around the world adopt the long-term Urban Vision 2050 for energy transition and sustainable urbanization, while transforming citizens into actors of this transformation. The PED concept will be tested and validated in two “Lighthouse” cities: Groningen (Netherlands) and Oulu (Finland). It will then be replicated in 6 “Folder” cities: Bassano del Grappa (Italy), Kadiköy (Turkey), León (Spain), Lublin (Poland), Trenčín (Slovakia) and Vidin (Bulgaria). The technologies selected for implementation in the project are mature or already on the market. The PED concept appears to go beyond the current European building regulations by bringing fundamental structural, social, economic and technological changes to cities.
DREAMER Erasmus_Development and renewal strengthened through advanced education and research in project management. Project researcher.
The Development and Reconstruction Empowerment through Advanced Project Management Education and Research (DREAMER) project is poised to make a profound and lasting impact, not only by enhancing project management education across Europe but also by supporting Ukraine's journey toward recovery and resilience. By fostering collaboration, promoting sustainability, and equipping students with the skills to lead in a digitalized world, DREAMER sets a new standard for educational innovation.
