INTERREG SK-AT Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub (2C FIMH), lead investigator for STU. The Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub (2C FIMH) project develops recommendations for a transnational innovation strategy in the manufacturing sector and lays the foundations for an innovation hub in Vienna and Bratislava. Over the next two years, pilot activities in the areas of incubation, education and cooperation will be carried out to support cross-border cooperation between universities, companies and start-ups. Project duration 01.07.2024 - 30.06.2027. https://www.twincityhub.eu/

Horizon2020 Making City, Energy efficient pathway for the city transformation: enabling a positive future 2018 – 2022, project leader

Coordinated by the CARTIF Foundation, MAKING-CITY is a 60-month Horizon 2020 project launched in December 2018. Its aim is to address and demonstrate the transformation of urban energy systems towards smart and low-carbon cities based on the Positive Energy District (PED) concept. Cities today play a key role in the fight against climate change by significantly reducing their carbon emissions. The PED operating models developed within MAKING-CITY will help European and other cities around the world adopt the long-term Urban Vision 2050 for energy transformation and sustainable urbanization, while transforming citizens into actors of this transformation. The PED concept will be tested and validated in two “Lighthouse” cities: Groningen (Netherlands) and Oulu (Finland). It will then be replicated in 6 “Folder” cities: Bassano del Grappa (Italy), Kadiköy (Turkey), León (Spain), Lublin (Poland), Trenčín (Slovakia) and Vidin (Bulgaria). The technologies selected for implementation in the project are mature or already on the market. The PED concept appears to go beyond the current European building regulations by bringing fundamental structural, social, economic and technological changes to cities. https://makingcity.eu/

3

STICS (Smart Transformation and Innovation Consortium Slovakia), Next Generation EU. Project leader. The STICS consortium accelerates innovation transformation through its own development, testing and implementation of solutions and cooperation across sectors. We remove barriers between demand and supply, build the foundations of a functional innovation market and do it transparently – through co-creation and co-design with the involvement of all relevant actors. Most innovations are tied up in local governments; therefore, STICS is turning the data jungle into a clear highway of innovation and opening it up to anyone who wants to improve life in municipalities and cities and strengthen the competitiveness of Slovakia. https://stics.umb.sk/sk

4

Horizon Europe MOBILITIES FOR EU. Project leader. The project is coordinated by CARTIF and builds on the expertise of 29 partners from nine European countries, who bring a wide range of knowledge and expertise to pave the way for the transition to urban mobility. In order to test the potential of innovative mobility technologies in real and diverse urban environments, these technologies will be widely demonstrated in two lead cities, Madrid (Spain) and Dresden (Germany). Five replication cities – Ioannina (Greece), Trenčín (Slovakia), Espoo (Finland), Gdańsk (Poland) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) – intend to replicate the processes of the lead cities and design their own adaptations for the tested solutions.

Interreg SaveGREEN - Safeguarding the functionality of transnationally important ecological corridors in the Danube basin, 2020-2022, project leader, http://www.interreg-danube.eu/approved-projects/

The SaveGREEN project aims to demonstrate how to design appropriate mitigation measures and maintain or improve the functionality of ecological corridors through integrated planning. It builds on the key results of the DTP projects TRANSGREEN, ConnectGREEN and HARMON. Monitoring the impact of such measures will help us learn and make appropriate recommendations for follow-up measures and policy-making. The project will focus on the critical ecological corridors of the Alpine-Carpathian Corridor, the South-Western Carpathians, Transcarpathia, Beskydy, Ľulín and the Balkan Mountains, which are affected by linear transport projects and unsustainable land use.
