Basic research on new paradigms of social marketing in the context of post-pandemic restructuring of societal values
Project in collaboration with FSEV
The project representative for FMUK is Mgr. Katarína Rentková, PhD.
Annotation:
The current post-pandemic situation is taking shape and stabilizing over time as the next normal state, the so-called next normal. The research concerns the post-pandemic period, which, as a result of the restructuring of society and its reorientation to new societal values, causes changes in consumer preferences, patterns of social behavior, and thus the essence of social marketing. The main goal of the project is to create a proposal for a model of effective social marketing in the conditions of the Slovak Republic. In the process of fulfilling the goal of the project, knowledge regarding the role of social marketing in marketing theory and practice will be respected.

Commuting in Slovakia and its impact on the well-being of commuters
Project in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics, MBU
The project representative for FMUK is Ing. Martina Chrančoková, PhD.
Annotation: Traveling is a natural part of people's lives at almost any age. It can be characterized by regularity, but it can also be random. Commuting is an integral part of most of our lives. Commuting is generally considered one of the least pleasant activities during the day. In addition to explicit monetary costs, commuters must also bear implicit, time-related costs and other restrictions. It is already clear that even after the COVID-19 pandemic, mobility not only of the workforce will remain an essential part of society and will continue to have strategic importance in the lives of individuals and households. It is therefore a current issue that has a multidisciplinary character and is a subject of interest for research both at the theoretical and practical level in all developed economies. The project responds to current global challenges and trends in the field of mobility and reflects the level of professional knowledge in Slovakia, which is low compared to abroad.

DescriptionSlovak municipalities are influenced by major global and regional trends such as measures to achieve carbon neutrality, fundamental changes in the energy sector, and new mobility patterns. Together with emerging technological advances—including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data technologies—and significant societal challenges such as population ageing, the outflow of young talent to other EU countries, and social-media-driven radicalisation, they are expected to undergo substantial transformation.
At both EU and national levels, numerous initiatives aim to address these challenges. The STICS project contributes to this transformation in the following ways:
The STICS project builds on several past and ongoing projects funded through international grant schemes (e.g. Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, INTERREG).
The main objective of the project is to create an innovation ecosystem around municipalities based on data sharing among diverse actors. This ecosystem will enable the development of advanced domain applications as well as horizontal services built on heterogeneous and large-scale data sources and leveraging emerging technologies (e.g. AI, Big Data, edge computing, distributed ledger technologies).

Funding: Funded by the EU NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic under the Smart Transformation and Innovation Consortium Slovakia (STICS), Project No. 09I02-03-V01-00011.
Acronym: AIADOPT
Project Number: APVV-24-0607
Project Duration: 1 September 2025 – 31 August 2028
Type of Research: Basic research
Field of Science and Technology: 050211 – Management
Project DescriptionThe project focuses on examining companies’ readiness to use artificial intelligence (AI) and on AI adoption processes across different economic sectors. Artificial intelligence is currently regarded as one of the key technologies of digital transformation, bringing new business opportunities, improving process efficiency, and fostering companies’ innovation potential. Despite this, many firms face uncertainty when deciding how to implement AI properly, which factors to consider, and what benefits or risks to expect.
The aim of the project is to develop multidimensional models that enable systematic assessment of companies’ readiness to adopt AI technologies. At the same time, the project seeks to identify factors influencing the successful implementation of AI, including technological, organizational, legislative, and sector-specific aspects. The project aligns with Slovakia’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2030, and its outputs are intended to help companies better align their development activities with national and European policies.
The project outcomes will include methodologies, tools, and recommendations to support companies in effectively assessing their readiness, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and strategically planning the deployment of AI technologies. These outputs will support not only innovation and competitiveness of Slovak enterprises, but also their sustainable development and ability to respond to dynamic changes in the digital environment.
