Obtaining a minimum of 140 credits for the entire study: successful completion of the first comprehensive part of the doctoral studies (licenciate) worth 90 credits; 50 credits for scientific and teaching activities, while it is necessary to obtain a minimum of 40 credits for scientific activities for the entire study.

Selected questions about the inspiration and biblical canon and history of Israel. Themes and literary genres of Historical literature and Prophecy. Wisdom literature and its key topics. Key topics of Psalms and the exegesis of selected Psalms. Literary and theological characteristics of the New Testament writings and their theological emphasis. Epistolography and the Phenomenon of Pseudepigraphy. Exegesis and theological interpretation of selected biblical texts. Selected topics from the Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments.
The PhD student defines the content and literary-theological intent of biblical books and determines the historical context of events. He articulates the key themes of the books and synthetically presents them in connection with other writings of the biblical canon. Exegetically analyzes selected texts of books and applies in his exegesis the criteria of diachronic, resp. synchronic exegetical methods. Synthetically presents selected topics from Biblical Theology.
The PhD student prepares a written work on a selected topic from the Biblical Theology of the Old Testament and prepares two topics, from which the teacher determines the one, that the student adequately presents and defends in discussions with others. In the evaluation of work and answers, together they can reach the most 20 points, 10 points for each task. At least 10 points must be obtained for a 'pass' grade.

Doctoral student masters morphology of verbs and correct syntax of the Greek language and is able to use this konowledge in exegesis of the original text of the New Testament. With the help of dictionaries and commentaries he/she translates selected Greek texts of the Septuagint and New Testament.
Student has to prepare technical translation of a text from the Old Testament and detailed analysis of verbal forms. Student can obtain maximum of 30 points. To be evalutated as passed he/she has to gain at least 15 points.

Selected themes of Hebrew grammar, making use of critical apparatus of BHS or critical edition of the Hebrew text Quinta; translation of selected texts from the Old Testament.
Doctoral student masters morphology of verbs and correct syntax of the Hebrew language and is able to use this konowledge in exegesis of the original text of the Old Testament and in analysis of the terms from the Hebrew Bible. With the help of dictionaries he/she translates selected Hebrew texts.
Student produces his/her own translation of the selected text, presents his/her conclusions to the other students at the seminar, which he/she defends in a discussion, and can achieve a maximum of 30 points for all tasks combined. The student needs to obtain at least 15 points to obtain a passing grade.

Doctoral student, assisted by lecturer, analyses a selected medieval or later manuscript source coming from our region and learn the principles of papyrology and codicology, the system of abbreviations used in the civil and ecclesiastical administration of the Kingdom of Hungary, some specifics of this Latin dialect and ecclesiastical Latin.
Student is able to orient himself in textual sources coming from ecclesiastical and secular communities in our region, to evaluate their formal and content aspects and examine their relevance for his/her research.

The student prepares a written thesis on the chosen topic, presents his/her conclusions to the other students at the seminar and defends them in a discussion. A minimum of 50% is required to receive a passing grade.

The fundamental principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church seen as a theological perspective on social issues. The right to private property moderated by the universal destination of goods. Human rights and the common good. The relationship between labour and capital. The problem of corruption - a theological proposal for the solution of this social issue.
The student will provide theological solutions to specific topics in the Social Doctrine of the Church that will able to resolve social problems at the level of political and economic life to be addressed in the light of social ethics.
During the semester, the student prepares and presents one work on a selected topic evaluated with a maximum of 30 points. A minimum of 15 points is required to obtain a pass.

Deepening of the key issues of nullity of marriage. Legal positivism versus natural law theories. Relationship between the state and the Church in the countries of the European Union. Dispute resolution between canon law and Muslim religious law.
The student analyzes the presented topics and offers a solution to selected cases by applying the legal norms of canon law.

In order to complete the course the student has to attend it regularly and actively, give a presentation and submit a thesis of about 15-20 pages. In total 80 points at most can be awarded, thereof 50 points for the theses, 20 points for the paper and 10 points for having participated actively in the discussions. In order to pass, it is necessary to achieve at least 51 points.

At the time stated by the study programme, every professor will announce the topic of the course and make available the syllabus to the registered students.
After the completion of the course the student will have mastered the fundamental methods of the Church historical research in the given field and will be able to apply them autonomously. He/she will demonstrate the knowledge of the basic scientific literature and of the scholarly discourse in the given field, the ability to do a systematic search for literature, to evaluate the status quaestionis and the applied methods in the given topic, to identify the desiderata of the research und to provide the argumentative proof of the own interpretation.
The student will prepare two papers or essays on topics designated by the teacher, in which he will demonstrate knowledge of liturgical sources and liturgical norms. At least 50% is required to obtain a positive evaluation.

Sources of the Roman Liturgy: Sacramentaries, Ordines Romani, Pontificale Romanum, Monumenta Liturgica Concilii Tridentini, Liturgical Law after the Second Vatican Council: Redemptionis Sacramentum and other current documents of the Church.
The student has an overview of the basic sources of the Roman liturgy and knows the liturgical norms contained in the current documents of the Congregation for Divine Cult and Discipline of the Sacraments, in the context of papal documents.
The student prepares a paper on the chosen topic and a written work of 10 pp. on a current pastoral issue, presents his/her conclusions to the other students at the seminar and defends them in a discussion. A minimum of 50% is required to receive a passing grade.

Current Pastoral Challenges of the Church. Analysis of Church documents. Their application in pastoral practice.
The student has knowledge of the basic pastoral tendencies at the level of the Church and the diocese. He/she is oriented to the documents of the Magisterium that deal with pastoral ministry today. He/she has an overview of the domestic and available foreign literature dealing with pastoral aspects. Is able to elaborate a specific pastoral challenge at a professional level.
During the semester, based on the directives of the teacher, the student independently develops a catechetical project, which is presented at the end of the semester. The final grade is a summary of the catechetical project and its presentation. A minimum of 50% is required to receive a passing grade.

The student chooses his/her own catechetical project, sets goals, selects appropriate methods and procedures, and evaluates the success of the project based on indicators. The student masters the methods of presentation and manages the discussion.

The student will adequately handle the assigned subtopic methodologically and in terms of content in the form of a seminar paper, in which he/she will also demonstrate knowledge of the technical means of expression of science (language, structure, bibliographic and citation rules...) and the ability to present its results in an appropriate verbal expression and using appropriate presentation techniques and ICT technologies.
