During the semester (70%): local development project. a) Interim work on the project (10%) The student demonstrates ongoing work on the project, through outputs shared and discussed in workshops Outputs: a1) site profile (4%); a2) potential, structure (3%); a3) logic matrix, methods (3%); b) Presentation of the overall project (15%). Oral presentation of the project of approx. 15 min. Relevant summary of key parts and clarity of presentation (12%) and formality of presentation (3%) are assessed. c). Complete text of the project (45%). Elaboration of the local development project of the selected site according to the structure and with a scope of min 10 standard pages. The project must include: a) profile and potential of the site b) assumptions and resources c) timetable d) description of activities e) logical matrix f) analysis (SWOT, impact...). Formal criteria such as editing, referencing, spelling and stylistics (10%) and the quality of the treatment of the topic, adherence to and fulfillment of the structure, logic of the text, realism of intentions, use of relevant sources (35%) are applied in the evaluation. A text that contains unattributed quotations (plagiarism) is graded Fx.

I. Theoretical part
Students will get acquainted with selected concepts and approaches that focus on the study of social relations in ethnology, sociocultural anthropology. They will gain the ability to orient themselves in their methodological approaches, goals, subjects and objects of study. They can interpret and generalize all topics presented in the course and inventively find and follow current issues in society.
II. Applied part
The practical part is focused on the acquisition of skills in developing a project of local (community) development. The students will get acquainted with local development mainly through the concept of social capital and cultural potential of the locality. They will learn to process a project of such development in a specific selected location.

Over the course of the semester, students will give an oral presentation on a selected issue of a group of Indians (based on a variety of sources). Evaluation of the presentation will be by both the instructor and other audience members. The presentation will be a prerequisite for the oral exam.
Also for the exam, the student(s) will prepare a translation of a folklore text from the English-language collections available in the sub-library. The analysis of the text will be part of the oral examination.

Students will become critically familiar with selected terms and current concepts in sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology. Students are required to prepare an assignment for each lesson. These weekly assignments will be gradual steps in creating a field research project. During the lesson, active participation in discussions is required.
The mid-term evaluation (50%) consists of the evaluation of assignments and active participation in discussions.
At the end of the course, students present a field research project, which they complete as part of the final bachelor's thesis. The project is approved by the student's supervisor (final evaluation, 50%). REQUIREMENTS

The course aims to introduce students to the study of gender in ethnology and social/cultural anthropology. The course covers the main relevant theoretical orientations. Theories of gender will be illustrated by mass media representations (films, advertisements, etc.). The class will include practical exercises aimed at understanding gender issues. The course consists of regular consultations between students and their thesis advisors, with dates set by the advisor. Students will be required to progressively prepare assignments related to the analysis of empirical data collected during field research for their thesis. If a student fails to attend at least three consultations, no credits will be awarded. During the exam period, students will present the results of their analysis and their interpretation in relation to the research questions at a seminar, where they will receive feedback from their peers.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to analyze the specific ethnic situation and history of individual minorities, ethnic changes or community dynamics, using basic categories and concepts of ethnic issues. Students will also master the legislative context of minority life, as well as the relationship of the mother country to its members.
The lecture part of the course will convey theoretical approaches to ethnic identity and migration processes, with a focus on migration processes from the territory of today's Slovakia (Central Europe). Using concrete examples, the audience will be introduced to migrations in the Central European space and to the areas of Southeastern Europe (the Low Countries, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, seasonal migrations - Bohemia and Moravia, Austria and Hungary), as well as to the space of Western Europe and non-European areas. The core readings for the course are listed at the end of the syllabus - individual texts will be specified on an ongoing basis.

The course consists of weekly lectures and seminars. Course materials, including the syllabus and interim announcements, will be available in MS Teams. Absences are taken into account according to the Study Regulations of Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Arts, Art. 4.9. During semester, students will be required to present a selected academic text or assigned topic at the seminar. Active participation in discussions is required during the seminar. At mid-semester, students will turn in a transcribed interview conducted with any respondent on the topic of a historical event that the respondent remembers. During the second half of the semester, students analyze these interviews. The results of the analyses will be discussed in the final colloquium.

Po absolvovaní kurzu budú študenti disponovať znalosťami o základných teoretických konceptoch pre štúdium ľudskej diverzity a správania sa v evolučnej perspektíve. Študenti nadobudnú znalosti o evolučne-antropologických teóriách z druhej polovice dvadsiateho a dvadsiateho prvého storočia a budú schopní orientovať sa v kľúčových pojmoch. Študenti získajú prehľad o evolučných prístupoch k ľudskému správaniu a kultúre a porozumejú princípom koevolúcie génov a kultúry. Dokážu vysvetliť význam rituálov, náboženstva, hudby a synchronizácie pre kooperáciu a sociálnu súdržnosť, ako aj koncepty férovosti a silnej reciprocity. Zároveň si osvoja evolučné vysvetlenia agresivity, partnerských stratégií a behaviorálneho imunitného systému a oboznámia sa s hypotézou starých mám a kooperatívnou výchovou potomkov. Kurz poskytuje poznatky využiteľné pre absolventov pôsobiacich v ziskovom a neziskovom sektore, dobrovoľníckych organizáciách či vedeckovýskumných inštitúciách.

The course consists of weekly lectures and seminars. The course materials, including the syllabus and interim announcements, will be available in MS Teams. Absences are taken into account according to the Study Regulations of Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Arts, Art. Students will be required to make a presentation: either (1) of a selected academic text, or (2) of a specific topic chosen by the student in consultation with the lecturer. The presentation of the text must convey the author's main argument and his/her own reflections/observations. The student must connect the text to relevant theoretical literature. The presentation of the chosen topic must include an interpretation in terms of anthropological theories and references to relevant literature.
Grading scale: A=92-100%; B=84-91%; C=76-83%; D=68-75%; E=60-67%; FX=0-59%
Violation of academic ethics will be punished, and the student will lose all the received points in the relevant assessment.

The student must submit the master’s thesis within the deadline specified in the schedule of the current academic year for the relevant date of the state exam. The master’s thesis is submitted in electronic form via AIS. The work must meet the parameters determined by the internal quality system of Comenius University. The provisions of Article 14 of Internal Regulation no. 5/2020 (Study Regulations of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University) apply to the evaluation of the master’s thesis.
The supervisor of the final thesis and its opponent will prepare evaluations of the master’s thesis and propose a grade in the A-FX grading scale, which the student receives a minimum of three working days before the defence.
Master’s thesis evaluation criteria:
1. The contribution of the master's thesis, the fulfilment of the objectives of the thesis in its assignment, and the requirements for the content of the master's thesis given by the internal quality system of Comenius University. It is assessed whether the student has worked on the chosen topic at the level of scientific study, with a representative selection of scientific literature, with appropriately chosen scientific procedures and hypotheses that can be verified. Demonstration of the ability to work creatively in the study program is evaluated and the degree of demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the diploma thesis is reflected.
2. Originality of the work (master’s thesis must not be plagiarized, must not infringe the copyrights of other authors); the documentation for the defence of the master’s thesis also includes protocols of originality from the CRZP and Theses systems, to the results of which the thesis supervisor and the opponent express their opinions in their evaluations.
3. Correctness and accuracy of citation of used information sources, research results of other authors and group authors, correctness of the description of methods and working procedures of other authors or group authors.
4. Compliance of the structure of the master’s thesis with the prescribed composition defined by the internal quality system of Comenius University.
5. Respecting the recommended length of the master’s thesis (the recommended length of the master’s thesis is usually 50 – 70 standard pages = 90,000 to 126,000 characters, including spaces), the adequacy of the length of the thesis is assessed by the thesis supervisor.
6. Linguistic and stylistic level of work and formal adjustments.
The student orally presents the content, achieved goals, and conclusions of the master’s thesis, and answers the questions and comments of the thesis supervisor, opponent, or members of the examination committee. The committee will comprehensively evaluate the quality of the master’s thesis, assess the method and form of defence, and the student's ability to adequately respond to comments and questions from the evaluations of the thesis supervisor and the opponent. The student receives their final grade based on the average of the assessment of the thesis supervisor and opponent from their evaluations, and the assessment of the examination committee.

After a successful defence of the master’s thesis, the student is able to design, implement, critically reflect, and justify his research intention. The student understands the context of the problem, can clearly define research conclusions, state his positions, and make recommendations. The student can take the state exam
a) after obtaining at least such number of credits that after obtaining credits for successful completion of state exams, they achieve the necessary number of credits for the proper completion of studies,
b) after successful completion of compulsory subjects, compulsory elective subjects, and elective subjects in the composition determined by the study program,
c) after fulfilling the student's obligations arising from § 71, par. 3 letter b of the Higher Education Act,
d) if no disciplinary action is taken against them.
Successful completion of the state exam is one of the conditions for successful completion of the study program. The subject of the state exam is evaluated by the committee for state exams using the grading scale A-FX. The evaluation of the state examination or its part is decided by the examination committee by consensus. If the examination committee does not reach a consensus, the evaluation of the state examination or its part is decided by voting.
On the basis of the wording of the study regulations of the faculty (Internal Rules and Regulations 5/2020, Art. 15), the framework dates of state examinations are set by the dean in accordance with the faculty's academic schedule. Departments are obliged to publish the dates of their state exams on the website no later than 5 weeks before they take place. The student registers for the state exam through the academic information system (AIS) at least three weeks before it takes place.
The student is entitled to one regular and two resit attempts of the state exam. The regular attempt is the one for which the student applied for the first time within the deadline set for state exams. If the student was evaluated with the FX mark on the regular attempt of the state exam, the student may take resits of the state exam
a) on the following dates assigned for state examinations in the relevant academic year
or
b) on the dates assigned for state examinations in one of the following academic years in accordance with § 65, par. 2 of the Higher Education Act.
If the student is unable to come on the day of the state exam for which they have registered on serious grounds, they are obliged to apologize in writing to the chairman of the examination committee in advance or no later than three working days after the date of the state examination or its part, if there were serious obstacles that prevented them to do so in advance. If the student does not attend the state examination or its part without an excuse within the specified period, or if the chairman of the examination committee does not accept their excuse, they are assessed with the FX grade from that attempt of the state exam
1. The student arrives on the registered date of the state exam according to the schedule set by the department.
2. The student receives a question from the subject of the state exam, which is submitted in writing and anonymously in the form of a random selection from printed questions or a generator.
3. The examination committee will give the student reasonable time to prepare an oral answer to the question.
4. The student presents the prepared answer to the question in front of the examination committee and answers the additional questions.
5. After the student finishes their answer, the examination committee decides on the results of the state exam in a closed session of the examination committee.
The course of the state exam and the announcement of its results are public.

The student has theoretical and practical skills based on the current state of information from the theory of knowledge organization and bibliometrics, as well as the ability to apply and use the skills creatively. The student analyses a status of women in the Slovak society during the 20th century in context of political, economic and social changes. After graduation of the course, the students are able to historicize and contextualize the status of women in the society. From this point of view, the subject represents a key moment for defining the diversity and character of society. It also helps to deconstruction of mythical images of power apparatus also its subsequent political and historical reflection. The students are able to analyse not only the role and impact of gender status of women in the society, but they mostly use a methodological apparatus of historical analysis of the society in general. Based on the acquired knowledge, students are able to comprehensively orient themselves in the public space of a politically defined modern society and to respond to the current challenges of society and to historical contemporary adversarial discourses.

The student is able to identify a dynamic trend, which have occurred in the 20th Century and thus modify the complex human destinies, which were intensely influenced by local and global power struggles. Based on examples of lives of general population, the students know to analyse issue of migration, changes of family as a social institution, long-term and short-term consequences of the war, women´s emancipation also crisis of masculinity, changes in eating, living and fashion. The students of history, sociology, and ethnology have a more comprehensive view of the 20th Century, which meant for individuals a combination of optimism and pessimism, rapid technological progress and dynamic life-style, which required high demands on man and the environment.
