Because of the course’s practical nature, for its completion is necessary continuous preparation during the semester, submission of creative homework for appointed deadline (or for the next lesson). After the presentation of these basic components at the seminar, he / she will then submit a written work in the range of min. 5 pages (30%), which should also include reactions to the discussion that took place during the presentation of the starting postulates at the seminar. Submission of written output is a condition for granting credits.

The condition for admission to the exam is the achievement of min. 10% of the ongoing evaluation.

During the semester, students will acquire linguistic and stylistic competences, basic editorial and editing skills and theoretical background in the field of artistic translation, orientation in the cultural and publishing context. The aim of the course is to clarify the influence of key works of world literature on Hungarian modern literature. The student should gain an insight into how foreign language literatures, Western trends, and Central European social contexts have influenced Hungarian works of the 20th century. After successful completion of the course, the student knows that historical linguistics and dialectology are closely related; he/she has an overview of the methods of historical linguistics, the foundations of comparative linguistics, respectively dialectological research and its sources. He or she is familiar with the most important milestones in the history of the Hungarian language, the most significant linguistic monuments, and has knowledge of the origins of written Hungarian and of contemporary varieties of the Hungarian language. During the semester, special emphasis is placed on the history and particularities of the contact varieties of the Hungarian language in Slovakia.
