The student acquires the ability to communicate the principles of interpreting in Dutch.

Throughout the semester, students continuously prepare analyses of terminology domains assigned by the instructor, develop and compare conceptual systems in Slovak and Dutch, and compile glossaries, which they submit in the form of a portfolio during the assessment week (60%). During the exam period, students take a test focused on knowledge of terminology theory and terminology in selected domains defined by the instructor (40%).
Students must achieve a minimum score of 60% in all parts of the assessment.

The individual seminars will cover the following topics in sequence: terminology as an academic discipline, the scope and content of the concept, the definability of terms, types of terminology, equivalence in terminology, terminology resources for the Dutch language, intralingual variation in terminology, and artificial intelligence tools in terminology work. At the same time, students practice terminological research and term equivalence using artificial intelligence tools. Emphasis is placed on verifying and evaluating the accuracy and quality of outputs, prompting, correcting outputs, and creating glossaries. Practical training focuses primarily on the following domains: public administration, public and state authorities, education, legal system, social and health care, etc.
The student has a basic understanding of terminology theory, focusing on the semiotic triangle, the scope and content of a concept, the definability of a term, types of naming, equivalence in terminology, existing terminology resources for the Dutch language, intralingual variation in terminology, and possesses practical skills in using artificial intelligence tools for terminological research and analysis, while being able to verify and evaluate the quality of the outputs from these tools and subsequently correct them.

This is an interactive seminar focusing on the preparation and performance of a stage play at the end of the semester. The seminar has its foundation in the approaches of Drama Pedagogy. These
are action-oriented teaching methods that create a dynamically creative and vibrant learning
setting with techniquesd of Dutch as a foreign language, so that students slip into different roles and re-enact authentic communication situations. At the beginning of the seminar, a short introduction to the basics of theatre and theatre pedagogy is given.
Warm-up and improvisation exercises to prepare the body and voice as well as to promote spontaneity and creativity are carried out in each unit.
Since the practical component of the seminar is of central importance, a stage play is chosen in the first weeks, and the students work intensively towards staging it in the course of the semester.
The final performance takes place at the end of the semester.

In this seminar, there will be a strong focus on the skill of "Speaking and Communicating in Dutch". Students will be able to experiment with language in a protected environment, which will greatly enhance their confidence in using the Dutch language. In doing so, students will not only deepen their linguistic skills but also strengthen their ability to communicate spontaneously, react to others, and express themselves more clearly and effectively in Dutch in various social situations, both verbally and non-verbally through body language, voice tone, and gestures.
In addition, students will increase their cultural knowledge through practical exposure to authentic texts from the real theatre scene during the selection, production, and performance of the stage work.
Furthermore, the students increase their self-confidence, their ability to be empathetic as well as their self-reflection by means of theatre pedagogical exercises.

b) During the exam period, students take a written exam worth 30 points. They take an oral exam worth 10 points.

The course consists of two parts: language exercises and phonetics.
Language exercises:
Work with the textbook, supplemented with current texts and audiovisual materials. Supplementary exercises focused on spelling, grammar, and expanding the basic vocabulary needed for communication in everyday situations. The lessons
in the textbook will be supplemented with oral and written assignments on current topics.
Dutch Phonetics:
The alphabet and pronunciation. Vowels and consonants, diphthongs. Contrastive sounds and phonemes. Assimilation, stress, and sentence intonation.
Midterm/final assessment weighting: 60/40 midterm/final assessment weighting.
Upon completing the course, students will have acquired knowledge of the Dutch language at the A1 level and will also have mastered, among other things, the correct pronunciation and intonation of the Dutch language.

Expanding basic language skills to the level of fluent communication using general vocabulary. Students will reach level A2 and have the opportunity to obtain the CnaVT certificate in Dutch as a foreign language in May. The morphological component involves mastering the most important morphological aspects of modern Dutch, with an emphasis on the basic parts of speech—nouns, adjectives, and verbs.

The major part of the class focuses on lessons 1-4 of the Nederlands in actie textbook, which the teacher enriches with current topics. By applying various didactic methods, the teacher develops the four basic language skills: writing, reading, speaking, listening. Through targeted exercises, the teacher develops the practical application of knowledge of morphology and syntax.
The topics for this semester are: 1. work, study and leisure 2. Travel and tourism 3. Emotions 4. education. Each topic is covered for three weeks of the teaching period.
Syntax:
The basics of syntactic analysis of sentences.
The sentence as a basic textual unit.
The position and function of the individual sentence members.
Overview of current syntactic research in Dutch-speaking countries.

(a) During the teaching part (continuous), the student will take 3 tests and one presentation on a topic from lexicology, each test for 14 points of the total grade, and a presentation for 15 points. During semester, students take three tests on the language part of the exercises (topic 5, topic 6 and topic 7) and a presentation from the lexicology section on a topic specified by the instructor at the beginning of the semester. Students read and review one book of Dutch or Flemish literature (3 points) (b) in the examination period, students take a written examination in the lexicology part for 15 points and in the language exercises for 15 points. The oral examination shall be worth 10 marks.
A minimum of 30 points in the intermediate assessment is required for admission to the examination.

Language exercises:

The teacher will apply various didactic methods bases on the four basic language skills: writing, reading, reading, speaking, listening. Lexicology:
The teacher specifies the topics for the semester in the first week. The lectures include, among others, the following aspects:
The inclusion of lexicology in the system of linguistic disciplines, with a focus on current research in Dutch-speaking countries.
Conceptual systems and relationships in vocabulary.
The breakdown of lexis with regard to its use in communicative situations.
Processing of lexis and neologisms. Lexicography.
Trends in vocabulary development: purism and the influence of language policy on vocabulary development.

Language exercises:
Work with the Nederlands op niveau textbook, supplemented by up-to-date texts and audiovisual materials.
Imitation of real situations of linguistic communication, focusing on work situations.
Practice of problematic language structures.
Creative writing exercises.
The themes of the textbook for this semester are: 1. positive, 2. social, 3. progressive. The topics are related to practicing current realities in Dutch-speaking areas.
Phraseology:
Topics for presentations of phraseologisms are specified by the instructor in the first week of the semester.

Contrastive analysis of phraseology according to thematic areas in Dutch and Flemish.
Extending language skills to the level of professional communication using an expanded vocabulary. Students will reach levels B1 to B2. Acquisition of commonly used phraseologisms in written Dutch with a focus on their occurrence in specific types of texts and communicative situations.

Students will gain an overview of the history of recent Dutch literature in a European context. They will be able to compare trends, tendencies and typical phenomena of Dutch literature. At the same time, attention is paid to the translation and reception of recent literature. Emphasis is placed on 19th century literature and students are introduced to literary concepts from narratology and literary theory, which they apply to Dutch literature.

During the homework students analyse source texts and do terminological research and preparation for translation of less demanding technical texts. During the seminars, analysis and translation interpretation and practice of basic translation skills, defending their own translation solutions and comparison with machine, post-edited translation are carried out. The translated texts are from the fields of education, healthcare and police, falling under the so-called translation in public services. Work with lexicographic aids, research methods, presentation of own concepts and solutions, discussion of equivalence.

Students actively participate in seminars on the theory of intercultural communication and in the implementation of the project (30 points); a check of the status of the project and a final evaluation (70 points) at the end of the semester: presentation and public defense of the project.
Violation of academic ethics will result in the cancellation of the points earned in the respective item
The student will be required to complete the assessment in the appropriate point of the evaluation.

Basic concepts and terminology of intercultural management, economic cooperation between Slovakia, the Netherlands, and Belgium, networking, writing a resume and cover letter, hard skills and soft skills, the image of the Netherlands and Belgium in the Slovak media. Parallel project work: division of roles and tasks, ongoing evaluation, working on joint outputs, preparing a presentation of results.
Successful completion of this course will provide students with a basic overview of the fundamental principles of intercultural management. They will understand the dimensions of culture according to Geert Hofstede. They will have a knowledge of the knowledge of culture and the knowledge of interculturality as defined by Hofstede.
They have knowledge of the business activities of Dutch and Belgian business and economic cooperation between Slovakia, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The course focuses on developing creativity and teamwork skills in the creation of a document with
text and audiovisual component.
