Students will continuously work under the guidance of both teachers to master the basics of critical thinking in evaluating information sources and finding fake news (disinformation), targeted hoaxes, media troll activities, etc. They will learn to find them in public arena, to read them correctly, to interpret them correctly and to demonstrate the impact of particular media messages with specific consequences. They will learn to argue effectively on specific topics given during the semester. As part of the course, the selected students take part in 2 classes at the partner Department of Journalism, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, an argumentative duel with the students of the parallel course in Prague, as well as an excursion to the Czech Radio. Reciprocal 2 classes during the semester at the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, an argumentative duel with Slovak fellow students and an excursion to the Slovak Radio - RTVS, will be organized for Czech students of this course. Exchange training at a partner workplace in the Czech Republic will take place according to the development of the epidemiological situation in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The alternative is online teaching under the guidance of a teacher from the Czech Republic in Slovakia / Slovak teacher in the Czech Republic and online fights of students in argumentation.

The course is directly related to the knowledge gained in the course Anchoring 1 in the field of anchor´s roles (information, in-formation, initiation and reformulation) and focuses primarily on training anchor´s skills in these roles with the emphasis on developing critical thinking as well as on the anchor´s ability to identify propaganda elements within media communication and face them. The subtitle of the course determining its focus is therefore PROPAGANDA, ARGUMENTS, CONFRONTATION. The course is implemented in cooperation with the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague (teacher: PhDr. ThMgr. Mgr. Karol Lovaš, Ph.D.). Students will expand their view of the profession of anchor in professional journalism under the guidance of both teachers (from Bratislava and Prague), as well as in cooperation and exchange of views with students of a parallel partner course of the same title at Charles University in Prague. After completing the course, they understand the critical analysis of information sources, the performance of the communication partner, the battle of argumentation strategies, acquire skills in the ability to listen, persuade and obtain information before and during communication.

2. Presentation of the results of the seminar paper during the semester in the form of a class presentation. The student will learn the requirements to be included in the presentation and seminar work at the introductory seminars.

3. Partial tasks during the semester. Answers to polls, brief reflections on the importance of the historical contexts knowledge, discussions on freedom of the press, professions and actions of the individual personalities involved in the world of journalism. The ability to recognize historical tendencies that are obvious till nowadays.

Upon completing the course, students will understand the fundamental psychological processes of mass and digital communication and be familiar with the main theoretical approaches to media psychology. They understand how the current media landscape works, including social networks, digital platforms and algorithmically personalised content. They can analyse the psychological effects of media content on individuals and society, particularly with regard to perception, attention, memory, emotional responses, forming opinions and decision-making. They understand the mechanisms of information processing in the digital age, including the phenomena of cognitive overload, information overload and cognitive biases. The student is able to distinguish between persuasion, pressure, manipulation and ethical communication in online and offline environments, including recognising modern forms of manipulative strategies. They can argue and persuade an audience and establish the boundaries between persuasion and manipulation. Upon completing the course, students understand the potential of stylistics as a tool for analyzing media texts. After completing the third course, they are able to integrate information from theoretical and practical stylistics in such a way that they can analyze media texts, identifying both formal and content-related features within them—an understanding of which is crucial for critically thinking individuals.
