After the successful completion of the course, the students will have acquired knowledge in the field of lexicology and semantics in general, with the main emphasis on lexicology and lexical semantics of the Hungarian language. They will gain an overview of the most important monolingual Hungarian dictionaries, especially general explanatory dictionaries and dictionaries of foreign words. After successful completion of the course, the student has a basic knowledge of the development of early Hungarian literature from the beginning to the 18th century, knows the relevant artistic tendencies, styles and directions (e.g.: humanism, renaissance, mannerism, baroque, etc.), the most important literary genres (e.g. legends, chronicles, genres of religious poetry and prose, etc.), the first linguistic and literary sources and monuments of Hungarian literature. Because of the course’s practical nature, for its completion is necessary continuous preparation during the semester, submission of creative homework for appointed deadline (or for the next lesson). Completion of the course should improve the basic skills of poetic and prosaic writing, and its practical use. The student should be familiar with the basic principles of plot, character formation, the role of aspects and methods of narration or the use of poetic devices. After successful completion of the course, the student has knowledge of the syntactic level of the Hungarian language within the thematic areas of the sentence as a statement; the structure of a simple sentence; sentence articles (adverb, subject, object, adverbial determiner, adjective, adverb clause); types of clauses (subordinating clause and subordinating clause); the compound clause. Upon the successful completion of the course, the students will have acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of language management, as well as in the area of language problem management, with a special focus on the management of language problems in the Hungarian language community, both in Hungary and beyond its borders. They will become acquainted with the most important linguistic variables in Hungarian and learn to evaluate the different variants of these variables on the basis of objective criteria. They will also acquire practical skills in the evaluation of texts in terms of the occurrence of these variables.
